Applying for Islamic mortgages may be one way in which people in Scotland are able to secure a newly-built home in the country.
The nation's housing minister Keith Brown has claimed the government will look to boost the number of affordable dwellings north of the border despite cuts being made elsewhere in the UK.
According to the politician, such an approach would serve to stimulate economic growth and safeguard jobs.
Mr Brown promised the delivery of 30,000 completed affordable homes - supported by investment in the region of £600 million - by the end of this Parliament.
He added: "It is a vital strand of our efforts to build a better and a fairer Scotland, addressing homelessness and affordability issues and continuing to regenerate our most deprived neighbourhoods."
Developers, housing associations and councils should be applauded for making significant progress in this area, Mr Brown - who has been a Member of the Scottish Parliament for Ochil Constituency since May 2007 - went on to point out.
